Orozco named State Wrestler of the Year

Monache High graduate Eric Orozco’s career at West Hills Community College has been capped by being named to the California Community College State Wrestler of the Year.
Orozco was named as the state’s most outstanding wrestler after winning the state title at 133 pounds last month. Orozco also won the Southeast Conference and Southern Regional Tournament titles this past season.
Orozco was also named as the State Community College Athlete of the Month for December. In addition, Orozco was named as an All-American and as an Academic All-American. He was also give the Golden Eagle Award given to students who demonstrate outstanding character.
Orozco served as team captain as a freshman and sophomore and helped lead West Hills to the Southeast Conference and Southern Regional titles and to a fifth place finish in state. He finished his career with the most wins in West Hills history.
Orozco has also served as a volunteer coach for the Lemoore Farmboyz Youth Wrestling program and as an assistant coach at Monache.
