Strathmore (16-2-1, 4-0 in the East Sequoia League) won the showdown for ESL supremacy on Tuesday at Lindsay as both teams came into the game unbeaten in the ESL.
“All in all, it was a good game, well-played by both teams,” Strathmore coach Hector Gonzalez said.
Nayeli Colunga scored twice and Alejandra Orozco, Andrea Gutierrez and Celeste Navarrete all scored once for SHS. Gonzalez praised the play of Kayla Holloway, Colunga, Hailey Tsuboi and Orozco at midfield. “They just moved the ball exceptionally well,” Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez also praised his defense led by Brittani Ortega, who has been marking the opponents’ top or fastest offensive player all season and was able to shut down Lindsay’s top offensive threat. “Brittani Ortega had an excellent game,” Gonzalez said.
In addition, Gonzalez praised the play of goalie Sasha Garcia.
