Strathmore posts win over Kings Christian
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Strathmore boys basketball team cruised past Kings Christian 46-39 on Tuesday.
Jake Duffin carried the Spartans (12-9, 7-2 East Sierra League) with 19 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, six blocks and five steals.
Jorge Ojeda finished with nine points, five rebounds and six steals. Geo Duffin pulled down 10 rebounds.
Hector Gomez contributed eight points and eight rebounds.
Strathmore will host Laton in its final league game of the season at 8 p.m. Friday.

CVC 55, Lindsay 43
The Cavaliers clinched at least a share of the East Sequoia League title Tuesday with a win over the Cardinals.
Seth Townsend led Lindsay (19-7, 5-4 East Sequoia League) with 23 points.
Jordan Lara finished with eight points and Bryan Gonzalez had six.
Donovan Castro scored four points and Michael Schlaepfer added two.
The Cardinals will host Parlier in their final game of the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Strathmore 60, Kings Christian 20
The Spartans demolished the Crusaders on Tuesday.
Lisa Lopez led Strathmore’s (15-7, 6-3 ESL) attack with 27 points and five steals.
Nancy Flores finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds, her second double-double in as many games.
Maribel Bravo, a freshman, had 13 points and nine rebounds. Denise Cabral added six steals.
Linda Madrigal finished with four points and Jocelyn Lemus tossed in a pair. Both are freshmen.
The Spartans’ defense was anchored by Cabral, Madrigal and Lemus.
Strathmore shot 27 percent (22 for 82) from the floor and 41 percent (11 for 27) from the free-throw line.
The Spartans will host Laton in their final league game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Hanford West 2, Monache 1 (PK’s)
The No. 8 Huskies took down the No. 9 Marauders on Tuesday in the first round of the Division 2 playoffs.
After playing 80 minutes and burning up four overtime sessions, the two teams moved into penalty kicks.
Hanford West outscored Monache 4-3, and will advance to the Division 2 quarterfinals against West (Bakersfield).
Gustavo Casimiro scored for the Marauders during regulation.
Monache finished its season with an overall record of 12-6-6 and was 7-3-2 in the EYL.

Monache 30, Tulare Union 22
The Marauders slipped past the Redskins on Tuesday.
Chandra Jones paved the way for Monache (17-1, 11-0 EYL) with 19 points.
Leslie Corey and Amanda Kaye led the defensive stand.

The Marauders edged the Redskins on Tuesday.
Megan McCright and Aisha Ilyas led Monache (16-0, 11-0 EYL) with 10 points apiece.
