Panthers capture league tourney
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The East Yosemite League boys golf tournament took place Monday in Tulare.
Porterville High captured first place with a total score of 390. Monache finished second (424) and Granite Hills was sixth (492).
The Panthers’ Kris Kennel garnered low-medal honors with a 75. Delano’s Mike Brown, who also shot a 75, was defeated by Kennel in a playoff round.
Nate Jessup (78), Mikey McGinn (78), D.J. Stone (79) and Barrett Schortman (80) all finished for Porterville.
For the Marauders, Jake Ramirez carded an 80 while Ulysess Madrigal and Gerrad Williams both shot 84s. Tyler Hines (85) and Evan Thomas (91) rounded out Monache’s scoring card.
Joel Jacuindo was Granite Hills’ low scorer at 89. Robert Jaimez fired a 94 and Jake Murdock carded a 95. Justin Jeff (106) and Matt Munoz (108) wrapped up the Grizzlies’ scores.
The Area tournament is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday in Tulare.

Strathmore 12, Kings Christian 2
The Spartans cruised past the Crusaders at home.
Jessica Tenhet was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs for Strathmore High (15-4, 6-0 East Sierra League).
Krystal Austin finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs while sister Kim Austin went 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
Angelica Sanchez was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, Savannah Rascon finished 1-for-1 with two RBIs, Olivia Arrelano went 1-for-3 with a double and Andrea Mata was 1-for-4.
Kim Austin earned the win in the circle with five strikeouts, three hits allowed and no earned runs.
