Junior Pirates go 2-2

The Porterville College Junior Pirates baseball team advanced to the semifinals of a tournament hosted by the B-Town Sliders over the weekend in Bakersfield. The Pirates ended up 2-2.
In one of their wins, the Pirates beat the Sliders 8-0. Angel Flores was the winning pitcher.
Caysen Cuehlo delivered the big hit, a two-run triple that scored Emilio Navarro and Flores. In their other win, the Pirates beat Fresno County’s Team Synergy 6-1. Brandon Lozano pitched a complete game for the win. Zack Hernandez led the offense with two hits and a run.
Team sponsors include Serenity Salon and Gifts, Allstate Insurance and Axiom. Also on the team roster are Jacob Hernandez, Riley Mueller, Al Cuehlo, Jacob Haas and Nolan Guzman.
“It’s great that our local community college coaches and admiministration can continue to provide a great league for our youth in our community,” Rene Hernandez of the Junior Pirates said.
