Morris named EYL MVP

 

For the second straight year, Porterville High’s Matlyn Morris has been named as the East Yosemite League’s Most Valuable Player in girls water polo.
Morris helped lead PHS to another perfect finish in the EYL as the Panthers went 12-0 to win the league title. Porterville was well-represented on the all-EYL first team as Morris was joined by three of her teammates while Monache had two players named to the first team. Also named to the first team for PHS were Marnie Kavern, Mikayla Scheer and Kassidy Lane while Elizabeth Jacobs and Mary Crocker were named to the first team for Monache, which finished second in the EYL.
Locals named to the second team were Porterville’s Brooke Day, Monache goalie Allegra Fritz and Monache’s Bailey Likewise and Strathmore’s Carly Innis. Locals who were honorable mention choices were Porterville’s MaryRose McGinn, Haley Newkirk and Courtney Hall and Monache’s Faith Weaver and Shannon Kaye.
