Panthers ride past Mustangs

The Porterville High baseball team completed a continuation game Monday with Tulare Western on the road.
After the two schools’ meeting was called due to darkness 11 days ago at a 4-4 tie, the Panthers needed just one inning to win 5-4.
Nick Shew picked up the win for Porterville (14-8, 5-3 East Yosemite League), covering four innings overall and allowing only two hits.
Kevin Hulse delivered a two-out, RBI-single to provide Porterville with the winning run.
The Mustangs loaded the bases at the plate, but Shew induced a flyout to end the game.
The Panthers will host Tulare Union at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
