Naz Abdulla

Abdulla shines in all-star game

After playing his last football game for Granite Hills this past fall, Naz Abdulla thought his career was over. But after doing more than just holding his own in a national all-star football game, Abdulla is now sure he’ll play football in college.
Abdulla played in the Blue-Grey All-Star Football Game on Saturday at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida. The game featured some of the nation’s top senior high school football players. Abdulla played middle linebacker for the North in the North’s 31-7 loss to the South.
“It was awesome,” said Abdulla about playing in the game. “I got to play with other good guys. I wanted to go hard at it. I feel I was competing. Just playing football again, it was so fun.”
Abdulla competed well as he was in on several tackles and also had a fumble recovery. Abdulla said before playing in the all-star game, he was just content on concentrate on college. But after his effort in the all-star game, Abdulla said, “I look forward to playing college football.”
Abdulla was chosen for the all-star game as the result of his performance in two combines. He participated in the National Blue-Grey West Coast Combine and based on his performance there, was selected to participate in the Blue-Grey National Combine in Canton, Ohio.
He was then chosen for the all-star game based on his performance in Canton.
Another highlight for Abdulla came when he was chosen as the defensive captain by his teammates and coaches. “I really appreciated that,” he said.
A replay of the game can be seen at www.foxsportsflorida.com/prepzone. Abdulla can be seen walking out to the middle of the field as a captain for the coin toss and his fumble recovery can be seen at about 1 hour, 56 minutes into the broadcast.
