Locals look to leave their mark at Valley playoffs

Tennis: SHS’s Magana-Lopez to play No. 1 seed.

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

The CIF-Central Section Valley boys tennis playoffs will start at 9 a.m. Saturday at two different locations.

Individuals will compete at Bakersfield’s In-Shape Sport Laurel Glen Tennis Club, 6901 Ming Ave.

Doubles teams will play at Bakersfield High, 1241 G St.

On the singles side, Monache’s Goldie Rayani will face off with Madera South’s Ulises Sosa.

Josh Castro, of Lindsay, will play Bakersfield Christian’s RJ Osborn. Their match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

In the bottom half of the doubles bracket, Carlos Meraz-Willy Woodmansee, the No. 15 seed from Porterville, have a bye in Round 1. They await the winner of an Exeter-Hanford match.

The Panthers’ Jade Perry-CJ Cobarruvias will tangle with a team from Sanger at 11 a.m.

Elon Wright-J.R. Remegio, of Monache, will play a duo from McLane while teammates Zack Reed-Alex Phaphol plan to take down their Washington Union opponents.

Strathmore’s Mark Magana-Carlos Lopez will have their hands full. They will try everything possible to defeat the No. 1 seed from Clovis West.

All three of these matches are scheduled to get under way at 9 a.m.
