Ex-Marauder Allard takes 2nd at Stroke Play

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

It’s been a busy summer so far for former Monache High girls golf standout Kristen Allard.

Currently a member of Washington State’s women’s golf team, Allard is taking in a few summer tournaments during the off-season, most recently finishing second place at the Women’s Golf Association of Northern California’s Stroke Play Championship from June 14-16, which plays on three courses over three days.

Allard shot 2-under-par in the first round at Merced Golf and Country Club, followed by 6-over and 3-over-par outings at Madera Golf and Country Club and Fort Washington Country Club.

Allard held the lead at moments, but was eventually overtaken by the tournament’s 10-time champion Lynn Cowen, of El Macero.

Next, Allard prepares for the 75th City Women’s Championship in Sacramento this weekend before jetting off to Philadelphia for the Penn Oaks Collegiate Open, June 28-30.

Heading into her third season at Washington State, Allard competed in every tournament as a sophomore last season.

At Monache, Allard left a legacy as one of the top players in school history, winning all of the possible four East Yosemite League titles and twice claiming Valley championships.
