Lindsay softball drops Strathmore, gets 7th seed
Lindsay 16, Strathmore 2
This year’s version of the Orange Belt rivalry was rather anticlimactic as Lindsay easily dismantled its nemesis to the south on Friday.
Cardinals pitcher Sammy Jauregui enjoyed a strong game on the offensive and defensive side of the plate. The sophomore struck out nine and allowed just five hits while knocking out two hits of her own and crossing home twice.
Rachel Marie Ruiz was perfect at bat, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs.
Kelcey Knutson also had three hits to go with three RBI and three runs.
Alexsis Arguelles, Hayley Kendig and Veronica Millan each had one hit and combined for five more runs.
Lindsay finished the regular season 18-8 (10-2 ESL), winning the league for the third year in a row.
The Cardinals drew the seventh seed in the Division V playoffs and face Mission Prep, Wednesday.
