Monache softball wins 5th straight in league
The suddenly-on-fire Marauders softball team won its fifth straight in EYL — an 11-2 walloping over Cesar Chavez on Wednesday — after starting league play at 2-3.
Danielle Emerson nearly hit for the cycle with a single, two doubles, a triple and another shot that fell three feet shy of a home run for three RBI.
The freshman was also the game’s winning pitcher, striking out 12 and allowing just one hit.
“It was fun to watch her,” Monache coach Dave Koontz said. “She dominated when she had to.”
Maria West was a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate with three runs and the Marauders totaled 11 hits.
Monache (10-14, 7-3 EYL) plays Tulare Union on Wednesday.
