It looks like Strathmore softball’s winning streak will end at one.
After opening with a victory over Orange Cove, the promising new Spartans (many of whom dominated as JV last season), still have some kinks to work out after falling to Orosi, 10-7, Tuesday afternoon.
Strathmore held a 7-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter before six errors coughed up seven runs from Orosi. The team finished with nine errors in all.
“I switched a lot of players out that inning,” conceded Strathmore coach Jenny Boone, who’s working with a roster of 16. “We’re still figuring out who’s gonna play for us and who works well together.”
Hannah Gonzales went 2-for-3 from the plate with three RBI.
Haylee Cristan also had three RBI off her double and Jocylen Lemus added one more RBI.
Despite Orosi’s multiple runs, pitcher Hailey Tsuboi allowed just three hits and walked three more.
The Spartans (1-1) continue the Strathmore tournament with a game against Laton, Thursday.
The six-day tournament features five days of pool play before playoffs on Saturday.
