Orange Belt Power Rankings: Girls' Soccer
1. Strathmore
Surely have to be strutting around the campus this week. The Spartans (23-2, 9-0 ESL) secured their third straight league title and have home-field advantage in the Division VI playoffs. It’s a shame there are only five teams in the bracket. Perhaps the CIF should combine the Central and Central Coast sections to decide central California’s best small school.
2. Porterville
Like the Panther boys, got wins over both city rivals this week and are rolling into the playoffs with a head of steam. The Division III bracket is loaded; Porterville is the No. 7 seed.
3. Exeter
Won two out of their last three to cement a playoff berth. Finished third in the CSL (6-5-1) and nabbed a first-round bye.
4. Lindsay
Have to be ecstatic that Strathmore isn’t in their playoff division, as they were outscored 11-0 by their rivals, this year. The 7th-seeded Cards host Firebaugh, at 6 p.m., today.
5. Granite Hills
Came within a goal of qualifying for the playoffs, but beating the city’s top team to advance isn’t an easy task.
6. Monache
Like Granite, has to go into the offseason after a shutout loss to Porterville.
