Porterville High's Coriann Snyder will attend National Training Selection Camp in Los Alamitos next month.

Snyder headed to Olympic selection camp

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

Before Porterville High water polo star Coriann Snyder steps foot on Long Beach State campus this fall, she might be a step closer to joining the USA Junior National Team.

Following her performance at the Northern California Olympic Development Regional Championships in San Ramon on April 24 and 25, Snyder stood out among some of the country’s top athletes well enough to be selected as one of the 70 to attend a Nationial Training Selection Camp, to be held in late June in Los Alamitos.

There, she will endure professional development as an Olympic hopeful, learning the technical, tactical and psychological aspects of the water polo system. If Snyder passes with flying colors, she could be asked to join the Junior National Team as part of a feeder program that streamlines into USA Water Polo’s National Team.

Currently, Snyder is one of just 20 representing the Girls’ 92U (1992-and-under) Regional Championship team in Northern California.

Last fall, Snyder led the 24-2 Panthers to an EYL championship and Valley runner-up finish behind 108 goals — third-most all-time in school history.
