Shew, Fuston named to All-CVC teams
After leading the Central Valley Conference in scoring, former Porterville High star Alex Shew was named to the All-CVC First Team last weekend.
Shew proved she could dominate at the next level, averaging 26.2 points per game in conference play (21.4 for the season) while pulling down five rebounds per contest.
The 5-foot-7 guard hit 45 percent of all her shots and averaged two steals and nearly two assists per game.
PC point guard Quaraya Fuston’s play put her on the conference’s Second Team. As a stable floor general, Fuston averaged eight points per game in CVC action and dished 3.5 assists. The former Granite Hills star also led the Pirates in steals (2.1 average) and grabbed better than three rebounds per game — a feat considering her 5-foot-3 height.
The third Pirate to garner all-CVC attention is former Porterville High point guard Stevee Thomas as an Honorable Mention. In 12 conference games, Thomas averaged 7.1 points and doled out two assists per game. She also averaged two assists and 2.5 boards per outing.
The Pirates finished the season at 4-20, 2-8 CVC.
