Spartans dominate diamond

Coming off a shutout loss five days ago to Orange Cove High, the Strathmore baseball team rebounded nicely at home Tuesday against Kings Christian.
Gary Vail tossed a great game on the mound and Strathmore racked up the hits.
The Spartans used this combination to throttle the Crusaders 25-2 in five innings.
Vail went the distance and allowed just one earned run, one walk and five hits while tallying nine strikeouts.
Many Spartans contributed to the hitting onslaught.
Mario Lemus was 4-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored while Vail went 4-for-5 with three runs, two RBIs and a double.
A.J. Knight was 3-for-4 with five runs, a double and one RBI. Robert Hanger finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs. Alex Lara was 2-for-4 with four runs and three RBIs.
The Spartans will look to make it two in a row as they travel to play Farmersville at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
When the two schools met two weeks ago in Strathmore, the Aztecs won a 13-11 shootout.
