Pirates finish season with sweep
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Porterville College volleyball team went out with a bang, sweeping Columbia in its final game of the season, 25-12, 25-15 and 25-18.
Olga Velasquez led with 17 kills and two blocks while Jessica Hernandez had eight kills, five digs and a block.
Sylvia Ramirez registered seven kills, two digs and one assist.
Laura Lopez had three kills, eight digs, 33 assists and served 21-for-21 with four aces.
The top three teams from the Central Valley Conference will go to the playoffs and the Pirates await the results on Sunday.
The Pirates are currently tied for third in the conference with COS, but the tie-breaker will go to the Pirates, who beat COS in their head-to-head matchups.
“We had a good season,” PC coach Dale Henderson said. “We’ve got a lot of returners coming back next season, some nice recruits.
“Next year we’re shooting for No. 1.”
