Panthers tennis too much for Grizzlies

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

Porterville 7, Granite Hills 2

With the Panthers’ (8-3 EYL) win over cross-town rival Grizzlies on Monday, Porterville has one last shot to spoil a perfect Marauders season on Wednesday.

The Panthers’ Chai Yang, Johnny Nieto, Robert Lanning, Mitch Walters and Amninder Dahliwal each won their singles matches to clinch the victory with five points. No. 2 Patrick Lewis was the lone Panther to drop his match against Granite’s David Tiernan.

Lewis and Yang also dropped the only doubles set for Porterville, while the No. 2 team of Nieto and Vince Catalina and the No. 3 tandem of Dahliwal and Josh Martinez kept the Grizzlies from making it close.
