Former Monache star Allard wins 2nd tourney of College Tour

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

The offseason has been kind to former Monache High girls’ golf star Kristen Allard.

Currently playing for Washington State University, Allard is keeping busy by competing on the College Players Tour in the summer, including a recent win at the Penn Oaks Collegiate Open just outside Philadelphia, June 28-30.

This marks Allard’s second win on the Tour out of three tries. She won the Pine Tree Collegiate Open in Georgia last summer.

Allard imrpoved in each round, shooting a 78, 77 and a final-round low of 73 to win by three strokes ahead of second-place Brooke Baker (North Carolina State) and third-place Ashley Malaska (University of Arizona).

Allard entered the final day with a two-stroke lead with Baker hot on her trail the whole way. But a near hole-in-one on the 12th hole kept her competitors at bay as she tapped in a three-inch putt for birdie.

Next up, Allard heads to the NCGA Women’s Championships at Poppy Hills and Spyglass golf courses in Monterey this weekend.
