Lindsay set back by late Corcoran rally
Corcoran 6, Lindsay 4
Despite leading ESL for most of the season, Lindsay softball has one opponent to worry about — Corcoran.
The Panthers seem to have the Cardinals number and showed it by tacking on three runs in the seventh inning to rally for the win, Wednesday.
Veronica Millan’s fifth inning hit put Lindsay on top, 4-3, and the Cardinals shut down Corcoran in the sixth — three up, three down.
Uncharacteristically enough, Lindsay couldn’t muster up more offensive output, striking out nine times and walking eight, but leaving 10 on base.
Sammy Jauregui connected on two of the Cardinals’ four hits. The sophomore pitcher also struck out eight in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Renee Alvarado batted 1-for-3 as well.
The loss drops Lindsay (15-8, 7-2 ESL) into a tie with Corcoran heading into Friday’s game with Strathmore.
