Granite Hills softball is seeking to erase last year’s output of eight wins in 20 games (3-9 EYL) and, so far, the Grizzlies will do just that.

Having won their first three games, including Thursday’s 10-1 walloping over Orosi at the Strathmore Tournament, Granite coach Terry Williams says his girls are ready for others in the EYL to take notice.

“I feel we’re a team that can make some noise,” Williams said. “They have a real desire to win.”

In three games, the Grizzlies have outscored their opponents, 47-3, and senior Deanna Alamillo is a big reason behind that.

The right fielder is batting .928 (13-of-14), including Friday’s 2-of-3 performance with a double and a single against Orosi. She’s also stolen 18 bases.

Pitcher Kaitlin Fife recorded six strikeouts with just two walks on Friday, bringing a total of 19 strikeouts this week.

The Grizzlies (3-0) will play Strathmore today before wrapping up the tournament with pool play on Saturday.
