THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

At the EYL girls’ golf tournament, two city squads punched their tickets for Kingsburg.

Monache took second with its top five carding a 520 with Porterville finishing third (557) on the 18 holes at North Kern Golf Course in Delano.

Unbeaten league champion Tulare Western blew away the field with a 485, taking the top three individual spots.

The top city finisher was Monache junior Jackie Ramirez, who shot a 91 (fourth), 26 strokes better than her 2008 score in the tournament.

Porterville junior Mina Hassanshahi shot a 97, good enough for fifth, while senior Marauder Daley Roche carded a 98.

Monache’s Kim Leyva and Devon Meredith shot 108s, but Leyva finished ninth and Meredith 10th because of Leyva’s superior back nine holes.

Granite Hills and Lindsay finished their seasons, taking fifth (646) and sixth (698), respectively.

The top Grizzly finisher was Alexis Quilling (11th, 113) with Lupita Apodaca pacing the Cardinals with a 117.

Porterville’s Summer Davis shot a 111 with Jacquelyn Forrester (116), Kasandra Carabay (118) and Dedra Devine (123) rounding out the Panther lineup.

Zoey Randhawa and Quincy Randhawa shot 115 and 125 to round out the Marauder field.

The Area Tournament begins at 10 a.m., Oct. 27, in Kingsburg.
