The Pirates (0-1) could not overcome 43 turnovers against Southern California’s 11th-ranked team.
Freshman forward Keith Viliamu led PC with 12 points and 10 rebounds, but was the only Pirate to score in double figures.
PC had a cold shooting night from 3-point range, finishing 7-for-26 (27 percent) from behind the arc.
Among the bright spots, PC outrebounded Chaffey, 55-41, and 14 of the 15 players found the scoring column.
Former PHS star Oscar Velasquez had eight points and seven rebounds.
The Panthers (1-0) led 48-33 at halftime, and shot 43 percent (39-90 from the field) from the floor overall.
“We had spurts of good and bad play,” said PC head coach Greg Lanthier.
“We have a young team that is still learning how to play together.”
PC will host two games this afternoon at the Pirates Gym: Reedley will face Chaffey at 2 p.m., followed by the Pirates against San Diego Mesa at 4 p.m.
