Kendig narrowly misses no-hitter in Cardinals' shutout

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

Lindsay 10, Orosi 0

Lindsay pitcher Hayley Kendig carried a no-hitter for most of six innings in a complete game shutout against Orosi on Senior Night.

The senior allowed two hits in the final inning and struck out six to win her 10th game of the season. Kendig (10-3-1) will attend Fresno State.

Sammy Jauregui paced the offense, hitting 3-of-4 and scoring three runs.

Vanessa Gutierrez finished 2-for-2 with three runs and a pair of stolen bases while Kelcey Knutson and Veronica Millan each had one hit and combined for three RBI.

The Cardinals (17-8, 9-2 ESL) totaled seven hits for the night and are tied for first in league with Corcoran.

Lindsay can win the ESL outright with a win over Strathmore today (a postponed game from earlier in the season) and a Corcoran loss to Woodlake on Friday. The Cardinals then await their Division V seeding on Saturday.
