Neptunites dominate against Blue Dolphins behind 100 free relay

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

On Tuesday, the Corcoran Blue Dolphins swam into town to face off against the Porterville Neptunites.  

It was an evening filled with victories for the home team and the nine- and ten-year-old Neptunites saw their share of those victories.  

In the 100-yard freestyle relay, these swimmers did a fabulous job.  Claiming the top spot for the girls was the team of Brianna Likewise, Isabel LoBue, Jaybree Lopez, and Hailey Scott.  

Finishing first for the boys was the squad of Steven Chapman, Daniel Davis, Grant Snyder, and Jeffrey Scheer.

The four girls on the first-place freestyle relay monopolized the top awards in the individual freestyle event.  

Hailey Scott touched the wall first, followed by Brianna Likewise (second), Isabel LoBue (third), and Jaybree Lopez (fourth).

Leading the way for the boys in the individual free event was Steven Chapman (first place).  

Grant Snyder (second), Jeffrey Scheer (third), and Bradley Guelker (fourth) were strong contenders.

In the backstroke, the nine- and ten-year-old Neptunite girls who led the group were Hailey Scott (first place), Isabel LoBue (third), and Lilly Espinoza (fourth).  

Highest honors amongst the boys went to Grant Snyder (first place), Jeffrey Scheer(second), and Mateo Allard (third).

Racing well in the girls 10-and-under 100-yard IM were Madison Bower (second place), Avangeline Hernandez (third), and Gracie Duffield (fourth).  

Steven Chapman had a clear first-place finish for the boys, coming in almost eight seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.  

Clayton Dignam (third place) and Caleb Brumley, age 8, (fourth) earned special recognition.

The nine- and ten-year-old Neptunites swept the butterfly event.  

Excelling for the girls were Brianna Likewise (first place), Hailey Scott (second), and Madison Bower (third).  

Finishing strong for the boys were Steven Chapman (first place), Grant Snyder (second), and Enrique Martinez (third).

In the breaststroke event, the dominant swimmers for the nine- and ten-year-old Neptunites girls were Isabel LoBue (first place), Brianna Likewise (second), and Tristin Bennett (fourth).  

The highest-placing boys in the category were Jeffrey Scheer (first place), Bradley Guelker (second), and Lance Martin (fourth).

In the medley relay, the nine- and ten-year-old team of Hailey Scott, Isabel LoBue, Brianna LoBue, and Jaybree Lopez grabbed the first-place award for the girls.  

The group of Grant Snyder, Jeffrey Scheer, Steven Chapman, and Daniel Davis secured the second-place finish for the boys. 

Scores of Neptunites in the nine- and ten-year-old age group captured their best times of the season.

Worthy of mention are Alexandria Ulloa (-10.72 seconds, breaststroke), Madison Lawson (-9.10 seconds, freestyle; -1.39, backstroke), and Allie Efseaff (-4.73 seconds, backstroke; -0.94, butterfly).

 

Ages 6 and Under
